Back to the Barn!

An wedding invitation arrived at our house this spring, it read:

Becky Plummer
is being married in a private ceremony to
Colton Richardson
who has no idea what he's gotten himself into.

Private wedding, but we are invited to the celebration at the barn!!

The barn has a dirt floor, please wear jeans and boots. There will be BBQ, horseshoes, corn hole and awkward but enthusiastic dancing.

This was going to my kind of party, just plain and simple with friends celebrating! The site is also one of my favorite places - the Plummer barn.  The barn has served as a gathering for hayrides, weeny roasts, and line dancing!  The Plummer family is near and dear to our hearts. Jeanie and Bo were our  friends before we had kids. We spent days on the lake, at the pool, on the river, and a lot of time at church with them.  God needed Bo in heaven (2002) before we were ready for him to leave, and he is still missed by those who knew him.

Bo and Jeanie had four kids, all similar in age to our oldest three.  Anna got married a few years ago, now it's Becky's turn.  Becky happens to be one of Alyssa's best friends from childhood.

Here are some pictures from a great evening of celebration with Becky and Colton.

These girls have been friends for a very long time! All are married now, except Alyssa.  She is the last friend standing!

Becky loves to dance!  Her grandmother, 'Plum Plum' made her sweet and simple dress.
Carrie's childhood friends include the only Plummer boy, Dallas and Lauren Carroll. They were babies together in the church nursery, and continued their friendship over the years!

Taylor Andrews Hines and Alyssa,
currently both reside in Mississippi,
though Taylor is soon to move to north Florida.

Cornhole!

Love the table decorations

Kitchen update

If you have been to my house, you know that I love to cook.  My kitchen is small. The technical term is galley kitchen.  Despite it's size I do OK to feed the multitudes that pass through my door. Without knocking out walls and spending even more money, I was not going to be able to make my kitchen larger.  But I did want to update it, and thus began the decisions.

I would never want to build a house, because there are so many choices. Flooring, cabinets, knobs, counter tops, paint colors, etc...With the opinions of Randy, the kids and neighbors I finally made all the choices needed to begin.

The best part of this remodel, was that we were at the beach!  We planned it so that we would be gone for a week.  That allowed the workers to make more progress, and I didn't have to look.

Old kitchen: painted cabinets, linoleum flooring circa 1994

New kitchen looks a bit different!

Willow Wind and Gentle Pasture make the kitchen warm and inviting!

There are details to finish, but the big portion of the job is done.  I'm enjoying my new kitchen, and happy to report that I purged a slew of kitchen gadgets that I hadn't used in years.

Randy is currently painting the laundry room (garbanzo bean...yellow), where we put tile in place of the linoleum.

Come see us!
